iOS 8.4.1 Jailbreak – iOS 9 Jailbreak Not Possible

iOS 8.4.1 Jailbreak – iOS 9 Jailbreak, A few weeks earlier, The Pangu team came up with an iOS 8.4.1 jailbreak during the security conference HackPwn2015. On their official blog, The Pangu team later published an update titled iOS 8.4.1 Kernel Vulnerabilities in AppleHDQGasGaugeControl, which provides us more details about the kernel vulnerabilities of iOS 8.4.1.

A member of the Pangu team, by the name windknown posted –

When auditing iOS kernel executable, we found that the code quality of com.apple.driver.AppleHDQGasGaugeControl is very bad. In this blog, we will disclose 3 vulnerabilities in this kernel extension on the latest public iOS (version 8.4.1). More importantly, one of these bugs is a perfect heap overflow vulnerability that allows us to defeat all kernel mitigations and gain code execution in the kernel, just by exploiting this single vulnerability.

Then he mentioned about the three main kernel vulnerabilities for iOS 8.4.1. in details. He also states that Apple fixed two of the only three possible kernel vulnerabilities in the new iOS 9 beta 5. What it meant was that the jailbreak for iOS 8.4.1 will not work on iOS 9 and there is no point of releasing a jailbreak with the risk of getting it fixed in the upcoming major iOS 9 Release. Apple Released iOS 9 GM to those enrolled in beta testing right after the September 9 special Event 2015. iOS 9 Download will be available to public next week.

Now that we know about the kernel vulnerabilities in iOS 8.4.1 as revealed by the Pangu team, we look forward for a jailbreak of iOS 8.4.1 but the chances are very low.

Like always, we will keep you updated with further details about the iOS 8.4.1 jailbreak. Like us on Facebook and follow us on twitter for latest updates on iOS 9 Jailbreak.
