iOS 8.1.1 Jailbreak – Video

Recently the technology world had seen a clash between Apple Inc. and the world of jailbreak developers, but it seemed to climax with the success of Apple in releasing a new software update called iOS 8.1.1 which is ready for downloading to users now. This update did not go well with the jailbreak scenario as it had patched some of the major exploits made by the Pangu jailbreak team in order to develop Pangu8 untethered jailbreak utility for iOS 8-8.1. However, the jailbreak developers did not let the software update cause a hindrance to the users who love to use a jailbroken device. This is because a well-known jailbreak developer called iH8sn0w has revealed an untethered jailbreak too for functioning on iOS 8.1.1 devices.

It is not a new fact that with each new software update that is released by Apple, the chance of developing a jailbreak reduces for each new one. But the recent determination that has been shown by the jailbreak developers such as iH8sn0w and Pangu has proved that it is becoming practical to develop an untethered jailbreak tool just days after a new software update is released. In fact, it has just been about a week since iOS 8.1.1 was launched by the Cupertino Company.

Nevertheless, it is too early to come to any conclusion. This is because along with the video demonstration, iH8sn0w has also stated that the jailbreak, which was formulated with the able expertise of another jailbreak developer and hacker called XanderKitteh, is available at present only for those iOS 8.1.1 devices which work on 30-pin. He has also cleared that a full jailbreak release may not happen anytime in the near future.

A clear picture of the beta version of iOS 8.2, which has been launched recently, is what the renowned security expert is looking for currently. It is assumed that this beta version will be more helpful to create a new jailbreak. So, there is still hope that we will get a newer jailbreak for the iOS 8 version.

iH8sn0w has mentioned the following in the demonstration video:

“This uses some new research… (not bootrom related [aw ik], but not HFS either). Still only limited to working with 30pin devices due to no serial over lightning.

This does not mean a public release of something jailbreaking-related is coming from me anytime soon. So don’t update.

It is motivating to know that a ‘new research’ has been utilized to build the latest jailbreak. However, as you can see in the statement above, iH8sn0w has warned users from using the update if they want to maintain the jailbreak on their device. If your device is working on any of the previous iOS 8 versions such as iOS 8.0.1, iOS 8.0.2 and iOS 8.1, then the Pangu8 jailbreak can be used on the device without any problem. However, you might end up losing the jailbreak if you decide to upgrade to iOS 8.1.1.
