How to Downgrade iOS 8.1.2 to iOS 8.1.1 on iPhone iPad

How to Downgrade iOS 8.1.2 to iOS 8.1.1, Apple released iOS 8.1.2 few days back with minor bug updates for all devices supporting iOS 8. iOS 8.1.2 download is not that of an important update because it doesn’t pack in much of any performance improvements as most of us didn’t feel any difference between iOS 8.1.1 and iOS 8.1.2, also if you know iOS 8.1.2 doesn’t patch Taig Jailbreak and you can easily jailbreak iOS 8.1.2 using Taig Jailbreak. But if you are facing any issues after iOS 8.1.2 update or you simply liked the feel of iOS 8.1.1 better then you can follow this tutorial to downgrade iOS 8.1.2 to iOS 8.1.1 on your iPhone or iPad.


Downgrade iOS 8.1.2 to iOS 8.1.1

  • Download iOS 8.1.1 for your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch, Make sure you download the correct IPSW file for your Device model or it will not work.
  • Connect your device to Computer and perform a data backup.
  • On iTunes go to your device, Press and Hold Shift key for windows or the Option key on Mac and click on Restore iPhone button. Now select the Firmware IPSW file you downloaded in step 1 and iTunes will do the rest for you.
  • In Within few minutes your device will be flashed with iOS 8.1.1 removing iOS 8.1.2 respectively.
  • Now, just go back to iTunes and perform a data restore to get back all your data and settings.

Downgrade iOS 8.1.2 to iOS 8.1.1 Method 2

  • If the earlier method doesn’t work for you then you can follow this method.
  • First of all perform a data backup using iTunes
  • Now connect your device to the computer and put it in DFU mode. ( Press and hold Home and Power button for 10 secs then release the power button and keep the home button pressed for 10 more seconds, iTunes will detect your phone in recovery mode)
  • Now, iTunes just press and hold shift for windows and Option for mac and select the IPSW file your downloaded and iTunes will flash it with iOS 8.1.1.

so, here are the two methods to downgrade iOS 8.1.2 to iOS 8.1.1 but only do it if you have to, because iOS 8.1.2 is a newer version of iOS 8 which means better security and stability even through we have not experienced it yet but Apple sure had done something here. Also we don’t see any practical reason to download iOS 8.1.2 because we can still enjoy our Jailbreak on the new iOS 8 version.
